Madray Steel saves home and possibly family of three!!! Strong, Fast, Easy & SAFE One of the most devastating events happened this past Father’s Day… a home caught fire. It was late at night, around 1:30 am, when the family was awoken by the fire alarm. Unfortunately, the fire had already been burning 30 to 90 minutes. According to fire consultant & expert, John Haight, wood truss homes can be burnt to the ground in less than 20 minutes. “If this was a wood home it would have been a total loss,” he said. The steel frame & trusses did not fuel the fire. The fire was fully extinguished shortly after the fire fighters arrived. The entire family was able to get out of the home safely. According to the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Fire Administration, in 2001 there were 141,859 cases of fires in the United States costing $1,880,000,000.^00 ($1.88 billion). About 73% of these fires were in 1 & 2 family dwellings. The Overall Fire picture in 2004… There were 3,900 civilians that lost their lives as the result of fire. There were 17,785 civilian injuries that occurred as the result of fire. There were 117 firefighters killed while on duty. Fire killed more Americans than all natural disasters combined. 83 percent of all civilian fire deaths occurred in residences. Less than 1.6 million fires were reported. Many others went unreported, causing additional injuries and property loss. Direct property loss due to fires was estimated at $9.8 billion. An estimated 36,500 intentionally set structure fires resulted in 320 civilian deaths. Intentionally set structure fires resulted in an estimated $714 million in property damage. It comes down to the simple fact that steel does not burn as easy as wood, therefore lowering the intensity and devastating effects of fire.
